PADI Assistant Instructor
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) consists of two sections, the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. You can complete each course separately or combine them together, going through the entire IDC in as few as seven days.
As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. It’s a great way to gain experience in order to become a scuba Instructor.

There is the option to do many of the academic training sessions online which reduces the course to a minimum of 2 days.
Course Pre-requisites
-
PADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another organization
-
Be at least 18 years old
-
60 logged dives (with experience in night, deep and navigation)
-
Proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months
-
Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months
-
Submit a medical form signed by a Doctor
Knowledge Development
Similar to many PADI training courses, the PADI IDC course has a self-study element.
Upon beginning your course you'll receive quality training materials from PADI, specifically an IDC CrewPak designed to teach you what you need to know.
The PADI IDC crewpak and pass for on-line seminars include all the materials needed for the course and also to prepare for the PADI Instructor course. It includes:

What's Included?
The PADI Assistant Instructor with e-learning option can take a minimum of 2 days. The full IDC, including PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, may take approximately 7 days.
